Product Description

Anti-Hu CD20 Pacific Blue™ is a mouse monoclonal antibody designed for the detection of CD20 by flow cytometry. CD20 is a cell-surface phosphoprotein expressed primarily on mature and most malignant B cells, while it is absent from stem cells and plasma cells.

CD20 is a 33–37 kDa non-glycosylated membrane protein with four transmembrane domains. It is involved in transmembrane calcium conductance, cell-cycle progression and B-cell proliferation. CD20 is also associated with lipid rafts and can undergo changes in membrane organization following extracellular triggering and B-cell receptor signaling.

Because CD20 is expressed at high levels on many B-cell populations and B-cell malignancies, it is an important marker for the identification and characterization of B cells. The antibody recognizes an extracellular epitope of CD20 and is suitable for flow cytometry applications.

Specificity

The mouse monoclonal antibody 2H7 recognizes an extracellular epitope on CD20 (B1, Bp35), a 33–37 kDa non-glycosylated membrane receptor with four transmembrane domains. CD20 is expressed on pre-B lymphocytes and resting and activated B cells, but not plasma cells. It is also found on follicular dendritic cells and at low levels on peripheral blood T lymphocytes.
