Product Description

Anti-Peroxiredoxin SO2/3 antibody is a research antibody designed to detect the overoxidized forms of Peroxiredoxin proteins, particularly the SO₂/SO₃ forms of Peroxiredoxin 1–4.

Peroxiredoxins are antioxidant enzymes involved in cellular peroxide metabolism and oxidative-stress responses. The oxidation state of Peroxiredoxin can provide useful information when studying cellular responses to oxidative stress.

Target Antigen: Overoxidized Peroxiredoxin

Peroxiredoxin proteins participate in cellular antioxidant defense by helping reduce hydrogen peroxide through cysteine-dependent reactions.

Under oxidative conditions, the catalytic cysteine of Peroxiredoxin can undergo further oxidation. This can result in the formation of sulfinic acid (SO₂H) or sulfonic acid (SO₃H) forms.

The Anti-Peroxiredoxin SO2/3 antibody is designed to recognize these overoxidized forms, making it useful for research investigating Peroxiredoxin oxidation status and cellular oxidative-stress responses rather than simply measuring total Peroxiredoxin abundance.
